ASWARA

National Academy of Arts, Culture and Heritage (ASWARA) was established in 1994 by the Government of Malaysia under the Ministry of Culture, Arts, and Tourism. Originally known as Akademi Seni Kerbangsaan (ASK), it was changed to AKADEMI SENI BUDAYA DAN WARISAN KEBANGSAAN in 2006. Today, the university is widely recognised as ASWARA and is fully supported by the Government of Malaysia. ASWARA is Malaysia’s only public university dedicated entirely to the arts, encompassing both contemporary and traditional forms, and committed to academic and artistic excellence in various areas leading to diplomas, bachelor’s degrees, master’s degrees, and doctorates. ASWARA’s vision is to be the top choice for individuals interested in studying and practicing the arts, culture, and heritage. To achieve this, the institution provides an environment conducive to learning, practicing, and researching every aspect of its offerings. The ultimate goal is to produce creative graduates capable of researching, sustaining, and promoting Malaysia’s national heritage as scholars, performers, educators, artists, and critics. ASWARA aims for its graduates to become the core professionals in the creative arts industries throughout Malaysia, contributing to an educated and informed society while ensuring the conservation and preservation of the nation’s artistic and cultural heritage.
