For Academics

International Academic Conference and Exhibition of Innovation in Media and Visual Design (IMDES) 2025 invites academics, lecturers, and professionals to present research and creative works. This conference serves as a platform to exchange ideas, discuss trends, and showcase innovations in media, design, and sustainability.

Sessions will be held at the National Art Gallery Langkawi, Malaysia, in collaboration with ASWARA, with a hybrid option available.

Accepted papers will be presented in the international IMDES conference. Selected papers will be submitted to the SCOPUS-indexed proceeding or Nationally Accredited Journals (SINTA).

Curated artworks featured in the exhibition will receive international recognition and be documented in the ISBN-registered catalogue. Participants will engage in discussions, receive feedback, and expand their academic and professional networks.

National Academy of Arts, Culture and Heritage (ASWARA), Malaysia

Prof. Dr. Khairul Azril Ismail shapes Malaysia's creative education through policy and research. He is an academic leader, researcher, visual artist and Deputy Rector for Academic Affairs and Acting Rector at ASWARA, Malaysia who is dedicated to advancing arts and cultural education. His experiences are in both public and private universities in Malaysia and the UK since 2005. His PhD focused on visual culture, memory, and spatial awareness, influencing his work in heritage archives and exhibition curation.

Tomas Chochole, PhD – University of West Bohemia, Czechia

Tomas Chochole fosters interdisciplinary collaboration, bridging creativity and business. His interests brought him to several international projects. He is an independent journalist, lecturer, and researcher and head of interdisciplinary cooperation at Ladislav Sutnar Faculty of Design and Art, University of West Bohemia in Pilsen, Czech Republic. He was educated at West Bohemia University in Pilsen and at Jan Amos Comenius University in Prague. His expertise lies in innovative cooperation, problem-solving, and creativity, informed by his journalistic background and doctoral research on skill development.

Conference Submission Information
Registering as an Author
  1. If you do not have an EasyChair account, please register by visiting the following website: https://easychair.org/account/signup
  2. Click "I'm not a robot," then click "Continue."
  3. Fill out the available form and click "Continue."
  4. Wait until you receive a notification that a confirmation email has been sent.
  5. Check your email and click the link provided.
  6. After clicking the link, you will be directed to a profile details form.
  7. Complete the form and click "Create my account."
  8. If there are no errors, you will receive a message confirming that your EasyChair account has been successfully created.
Submitting a Full Paper

To submit, the user will need to be logged in as an Author. From the User Home page, under Roles, select Authors.

  1. Open the link using Google Chrome or other web browsers.
  2. Enter your username and password.
  3. Once logged in, you will see the "Author" page.
  4. Select "Make a new submission" to register your article for the 3rd IMDES Conference.
  5. Fill in all author details and upload the article file.
  6. Click "Submit."
  7. After submission, you will receive a notification confirming that your article has been successfully registered.
Exhibition Submission Information
Registering as an Author
  1. When an author is interested in submitting for a conference, they will need to visit the website, and select Submission.
  2. This will take them to a login page, where they can enter their existing account information, or if they are new to site, register for a user account before they can proceed.
  3. Registration requires filling in a few brief fields on the web form.
  4. Upon completion of the form, they will be taken directly to the submission section. They could also choose to logout and submit their paper at a later date.
Submitting an Artwork and Research Statement

To submit, the user will need to be logged in as an Author. From the User Home page, under Roles, select Authors.

Step 1: Starting the Submission
  1. The first step requires the author to agree to the submission checklist. If any of the items are not checked, the submission cannot proceed.
  2. Next, the author must agree to the Copyright Notice. If the Notice is not checked, the submission cannot proceed.
  3. Next, the author must select the most appropriate track.
  4. Finally, the author can add any additional comments.
  5. When this first stage is completed, the author selects Save and Continue to move on to Step 2.
Step 2: Entering the Submission's Metadata
  1. Information about the author is automatically pulled in from the user’s account.
  2. Using the Add Author button, additional authors can be added to the submission. However, the author filling in the form, will be considered the primary author.
  3. Next, the author must specify the type of submission, if any.
  4. The next section allows the author to enter the author and submission details.
  5. Next, the author would add their preferred indexing terms.
  6. Finally, the author would enter any supporting agencies that provided funding for their research.
  7. When this stage is completed, the author selects Save and Continue to complete their submission or move on to Step 3, to upload their submission file.
Step 3: Uploading the Submission
  1. Use the upload tool and select Save and Continue.
Step 4: Uploading Supplementary Files
  1. Authors may also be given the option to upload supplementary files, such as data sets.
Step 5: Confirming the Submission
  1. The author is given the opportunity confirm their submission.
  2. Upon selecting the Finish Submission button, the information will be sent to the conference for consideration.
  3. After the artwork has been successfully submitted, the author can log in again to see the status of their artwork. They can also submit another artwork, if desired.
  4. The active submission status will automatically change to Awaiting Assignment.
Responding to Reviews
  • The author can return to their account at any time to see the progress of their submission.
  • The status will change from Awaiting Assignment to Paper in Review.
  • The author will be notified via a system email of the decision.
  • The author’s submission may be declined for the conference, or it may be suggested that they submit it to another conference.
  • Their submission may also be sent back for revisions based on Reviewer comments, in which case they would need to make the changes and resubmit for final approval.
  • Lastly, the author’s submission may be accepted without revisions.
